In today’s Vendor Interview Series instalment, we’re going to get to know a little bit about local artist Terra Koop.

But first, a little bit about the Vendor Interview Series….

When we started to plan our inaugural Women’s Expo, we wanted it to be more than just another vendor’s market and workshop event.

We wanted to create a sense of community. To create connections and get just as excited about each other’s businesses as we are about our own.

We planned a pre-event meetup so that the vendors could get together and get to know each other before the ‘big event’, and we tasked them with some ‘homework’ that they have probably never had to do before when participating in a vendor market style event, (this Interview Series being one of their tasks).

It was our vision that with the information that they provide us with, we do as much as we can to showcase, and highlight these hardworking women, not only the weekend of the Women’s Expo, but as often as we possible could in the weeks leading up to it.

Balancing life and work is hard and we are so honoured that they are choosing to spend some of their time with us <3

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s get on with the interview!

Terra Koop – Artist

This is what NAME had to tell us when we asked her about her and her business:

I am an artist who is passionate about creating inspirational art.

I use drywall compound to create beautiful wall signs with inspirational quotes and images so that people may read them on a daily basis.

I also work with pastels and glass to inspire the practice of gratitude through note cards, bookmarks, colouring sheets and glass butterfly pendants. The necklaces serve as a reminder for us to take moments throughout our busy days and appreciate the blessings in our lives.

How did you choose what you wanted to do?

I have wanted to be professional artist since I was a little girl but it wasn’t until I was able to let go of self-judgement and give myself permission to follow my heart’s desire that I was able choose this creative path.

What are you most proud of about your business?

I am most proud of the connections that I make with the people who experience my art.

I am honoured that people will open up and share parts of their life with me because an image, a quote or a butterfly has touched their heart in some way.

One fun way you deal with stress? How do you unwind from your work day?

I dance. There is something magical that happens when body, spirit and music collide.

What is the best book you have read for business or personal growth? Or, what are you reading right now?

There are so many great books but my current favourite is The Untethered Soul.

What is your favourite inspiring or motivational quote?

“Anytime you start a sentence with I AM you are creating what you are and what you want to be.” – Wayne Dyer

What advice would you give to another woman just starting her own business?

Love yourself and believe in yourself.

Know that you are unlimited potential and infinite possibilities. Know that you have the ability to create the life that you want.

Thank you so much to Terra for taking the time to answer our questions.
